Secret Lair Deadpool
I Ordered Deadpool MTG Cards on April Fools & They Were Real!
Okay, so full disclaimer: I know very little about Magic: The Gathering. I know it’s some kind of complex card game with dragons, spells, and, apparently, a horrifying amount of math. My husband and son play it together and get wildly excited about things like “mana” and “board wipes”…
Anyway. Let me tell you how I accidentally became Mom/Wife of the Year by falling face-first into a marketing scheme I 100% thought was fake.
It all started on April Fools’ Day. You know, the day the internet becomes a chaotic mess of fake products, fake announcements, and questionable brand humor. I’m scrolling, minding my business, when I see this thing pop up: Deadpool Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair.
First thought: Oh no. They’re trying to put Ryan Reynolds into everything now.
Second thought: Wait. These cards are… kind of amazing?
The art was HILARIOUS. One card had Deadpool grilling. Another one had a unicorn. There was glitter. I saw a taco. Honestly, it looked less like a serious card game and more like someone let a 13-year-old with a Red Bull and a Sharpie redesign the gam, and I loved it. I really thought it was an April Fools joke. I figured, hey, this’ll be a funny joke. I’ll order it, they’ll get an email that says “lol gotcha!” and I’ll have a good laugh with the fam.
But no. The joke… was on me.

A WEEK LATER, A BOX ARRIVES. It’s real. The Deadpool cards are real. Wizards of the Coast actually made them. I checked the website twice just to make sure I hadn’t bought black-market wizard fan art or a deck of taco coupons.
I hand the cards to my husband and son expecting a chuckle. Instead? SILENCE. Reverent silence. Like I had just handed them ancient magical scrolls. My husband actually whispered, “No way…” like he had just seen a ghost. My son grabbed the Secret Lair envelope, stared at it like it was the Holy Grail, and said, “This is the coolest thing we’ve ever owned.”

Secret Lair Deadpool Magic the Gathering Cards
10/10 would recommend.
Even if you have no clue what “Secret Lair” means (still unclear tbh), these Deadpool cards are a riot. The art is unhinged in the best way, they come in a super secret looking envelope, and you get to watch your family freak out like they just opened a chest of gold.
Plus, now I get to say, “Yeah, I bought the Deadpool MTG pack before it sold out” and sound vaguely cool, which is all I’ve ever wanted.
If Wizards of the Coast is listening: next up, I want a Gordon Ramsay Secret Lair. Imagine the token cards yelling at you for burning your mana.
Anyway. I may not know a lot about Magic, but I know this: nothing brings a family together like a surprise taco-wielding antihero card drop.
Verdict: Would prank myself again.
