Nintendo Switch 2 Revealed

Nintendo Switch 2: The Price of Fun

by | Apr 3, 2025 | Favorites, Products, Video Games

Alright, folks, it’s happening! Nintendo has finally announced the Switch 2, and we are so ready—except maybe our bank accounts, which are currently in a fetal position, crying.

Release Date & That Interesting Price

June 5, 2025—mark your calendars, because that’s the day we either get our hands on this beauty or start selling plasma to afford it. The base model is $449.99, and if you want to jump straight into racing chaos, the Mario Kart World bundle is $499.99.

Now, I know what you’re thinking:
“Wait, wasn’t the first Switch like, $299? Why the price hike, Nintendo?”

Great question, my financially concerned friend. While $450+ isn’t exactly pocket change, it’s still cheaper than a PS5 or Xbox Series X at launch. So in the grand console economy, we’re… kinda winning? Maybe? I don’t know—somebody hold me.

What’s New? (Besides My Empty Wallet)

The Switch 2 is not just a prettier face—it’s got some real upgrades under the hood:

  • 7.9-inch 1080p screen (finally, full HD handheld gaming!)

  • 120Hz refresh rate (so smooth you’ll weep)

  • 4K docked mode (your TV is about to get a glow-up)

  • 256GB of storage (so you don’t have to delete a game every time you download something new)

  • Magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers (no more sliding them into place like a caveman)

Nintendo heard our prayers (or at least, our social media rants) and made actual improvements. A Christmas miracle, but in June.

Wish it has some shine to it!

Mario Kart World & Other Games to Crash Into

The headliner for the Switch 2 launch, Mario Kart World, is revolutionizing the series with a fully open-world experience, letting players race, drift, and explore massive interconnected tracks like never before! Imagine zooming from Mushroom Kingdom streets to tropical Koopa Beach in one seamless race—this is the Mario Kart we’ve been dreaming of!

Other big launch titles include:

  • Mario Kart World (an open-world Mario Kart? Count me in!)
  • Kirby Air Riders (pink puffball on wheels? Yes, please!)
  • Donkey Kong Bananza (I assume bananas are involved, so I’m sold)

Is It Worth the Price?

Look, $450 is a lot, but considering this thing competes with the PS5 and Xbox Series X while still being portable, it’s actually kinda reasonable (Nintendo, you win this round). If the upgraded graphics, new games, and improved Joy-Cons live up to the hype, then yeah, this just might be worth the financial pain.

Would I rather spend that money on rent? Maybe. Am I still buying the Switch 2? Absolutely.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go start a GoFundMe.
